The directions are what killed this recipe. Absolutely garbage. I had to look up a fix because "whisk the eggs and sugar" should really be "beat egg whites and sugar, and yolks and sugar separately, until stiff peaks form. Then add to cheese". Wasted two packages of expensive mascarpone on this. Additionally, this makes a very small, single layer tiramisu. I recommend tripling the cookies.

Am I using the egg whites too ? Also do I beat them separately and then add them together ?

You only use egg yolks for classic tiramisu! No egg whites are needed.
