Instructions

Preheat oven to 350.

Make sauce.

Melt butter onions and garlic in frying pan, medium low heat, about three minutes until onions starts to soften. Add flour, cook 1-2 minutes. Reduce heat to low. Combine milk and chicken broth, add a small amount at a time whisking until thickened. Mixture will become very thick, continue to add mixture at a time whisking until smooth. Once all the liquid has been added, bring to a boil over medium heat, while continuing to whisk. Stir in salt and pepper and let boil one minute.

Grease 9 x 13 baking dish, place 1/3 potatoes at bottom, season salt and pepper, pour 1/3 sauce over. Repeat layers ending with cream sauce.
Step 6
Cover and bake 45 minutes. Uncover and add grated cheese on top. Bake additional 35-45 minutes. Until golden brown top. Take out oven and rest x 15 minutes before serving.
