⚜️ Real N'awlins Muffuletta

These gigantic sandwiches were invented a century ago at Sicilian Deli in New Orleans. The spicy, tangy olive salad is what really sets this meat & cheese sandwich apart. A genuine muffuletta should be made on oven-fresh Italian bread topped with sesame seeds. Be sure and use the highest-quality ingredients available; it really makes a difference!

¼ cupkalamata olives
drained, crushed
1 clovesgarlic

2 Tbsppickled cauliflower florets

0.5 Tbspcarrot

2 Tbsppepperoncini

2 Tbspmarinated cocktail onions
¼ tspcelery seed
½ tsporegano

2 Tbspred wine vinegar
¼ cupolive oil

Instructions
Olive Salad
Step 1
To Make Olive Salad: In jar, combine Olive salad ingredients. If needed, pour in more oil to cover. Cover jar & refrigerate at least overnight.
Step 2
Since you're going to all the trouble of making olive salad, consider scaling recipe up so you'll have some extra waiting around for when you get another muffuletta craving (It keeps for at least a month!)

Step 3
To Make Sandwiches: Cut loaf in half horizontally; hollow out some excess bread to make room for filling. Spread top & bottom with equal amounts olive salad, including oil. Layer 'bottom half' of loaf with meats & cheeses. Replace 'top half' on each loaf & cut sandwich into quarters to serve.
Step 4
Serve immediately, or wrap tightly & refrigerate a few hours (this allows for flavors to mingle & olive salad to soak into bread.)
Step 5
Serve with soup & potato chips.
