Baked polenta with cheese (as a side dish)
8 steps
Prep:2minCook:25min
Polenta can be cooked in milk or water, depending on preference. Water makes it more neutral for stronger sauces, while milk gives it a creamier, milkier taste. I opted for a compromise by mixing milk and water, adding salt, and cooking the polenta.

Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400 °F).
Step 2
Place the milk and water in a pot, add salt, and bring to a boil.
Step 3
Once it boils, reduce the heat, add butter, and slowly pour in the polenta while constantly stirring with a whisk.
Step 4
Continue stirring the polenta and cook for about 3 minutes until it thickens.
Step 5
Prepare a deep baking dish and grease it with a little butter. Pour the hot polenta into it and spread it evenly on the bottom of the dish.
Step 6
Sprinkle grated or sliced cheese on top of the polenta. Place it all in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until a golden crust forms.
Step 7
Let the baked polenta with cheese cool for at least half an hour before cutting it into cubes.
Step 8
Serve the baked polenta as a side dish with meat sauce, or it can be enjoyed as a snack throughout the day. Enjoy your meal!
