Instructions

Step 1
In a big bowl, mix up the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and a touch of nutmeg.
Step 2
In another bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
Step 3
Now, slowly stir the wet ingredients into the dry ones until they're just friends, not too mixed up.
Step 4
Use a small scoop or a tablespoon to portion out the batter into little balls.
Step 5
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large deep skillet to 375°F (190°C).
Step 6
Carefully drop the dough balls into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
Step 7
Use a slotted spoon to remove the donut holes and drain them on a paper towel-lined plate.
Step 8
While your donut holes are cooling off a bit, whip up your cinnamon sugar coating. Mix the sugar and cinnamon together in a dish, and melt the butter in a separate bowl.
Step 9
Dip each cooled donut hole in the melted butter, making sure it's coated all over. Then give them a roll in the cinnamon sugar.
Step 10
Place the sugared donut holes on a wire rack to set. Repeat until all your donut holes are looking and smelling amazing.
Step 11
Serve them up while they're warm and watch them disappear!
