Instructions
Step 1
Wash cabbage and slice into very thin strips.
Step 2
Place cabbage into saucepan and cover with cold, salted water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain well.
Step 3
Cut bacon crosswise into thin strips, fry until crisp.
Step 4
Peel and chop the onion, add to the bacon, sauté to slightly soften onion, 1-3 minutes.
Step 5
In a bowl, combine the cabbage, bacon and onions.
Step 6
In a separate bowl, blend vinegar, sugar, salt, black pepper and cumin seeds; mix until sugar and salt are dissolved. Pour over the cabbage, mixing well.
Step 7
Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to combine, serve cold.
