Instructions
Step 1
Place the oven rack in the center of the oven. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a 23 x 13 cm (9 x 5 in) loaf pan with a strip of parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides. Butter the other two sides.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Set aside.
Step 3
In another bowl, cream the butter with the brown sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla using an electric mixer. Add the eggs, one at a time, and beat until smooth.
Step 4
At low speed, mix in the bananas, then the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk. Add the chocolate and mix. Pour into the pan and scatter the peanuts and a few pinches of brown sugar over the bread.
Step 5
Bake for about 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean but lightly coated with melted chocolate. Let cool for at least 1 hour and remove from the pan. Serve warm or cold.
