Nic’s Homemade Protein Powder

1 step
Prep:10min
Protein powder made with seeds and nuts. Vegan, plant based, homemade, cheaper than shop bought and arguably tastier. Left flavourless so any flavour can be added such a cacao powder, matcha green tea powder, beetroot powder, taro tea powder, spirulina powder, etc. Note: you can also use different nuts and seeds, for example hemp seeds, hazelnuts, pistachios, peanuts, pecans, etc.

Instructions

Step 1
1. In a herb or coffee grinder grind each of the types of seeds separately. Check regularly for consistency as some took me less than 30 seconds to grind. 2. Put each into the same bowl. 3. Using the same method grind the nuts, making sure you check them regularly as well as they can clump together if you grind them too long. TIP: If you want to make nut butters, this is the same method, just keep grinding until they become a smooth paste. 4. Place all the ingredients in the same bowl. 5. Add the almond flour. 6. Mix together with a fork or spoon and blend well. 7. Transfer the powder into an airtight jar or container. I’ve used a 1 pint (16oz/450ml) mason jar. 8. To use simply add 4 teaspoons (20 grams) into your smoothies, protein shakes, breakfast bowls, stir into porridge or even sprinkle over a salad. It has a nutty taste and a slightly grainy texture.
