Step 1
1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F). Roll out the pastry and line a flan dish, trimming the edges neatly. Blind bake for 10–12 minutes until lightly set. 2. Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook for 5–6 minutes until soft and lightly golden. 3. Spread the cooked onions evenly over the pastry base. Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese on top. 4. In a bowl, whisk together the milk, cream, eggs, salt, and black pepper until smooth. 5. Carefully pour the egg mixture over the cheese and onions in the pastry case. 6. Bake for 25–30 minutes until the filling is set and the top turns golden brown. 7. Slice and serve warm or cold for a nostalgic homemade treat.
