For Pudding
Step 1
Add sugar, salt, flour, and milk to a thick pan and cook cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
Step 2
Separate egg yolks and whites. Add the yolks to the pudding and cook for a few more minutes before removing from heat and adding vanilla.
Step 3
Layer cookies on bottom first, then banana slices, and so on until the dish is full and the top layer is cookies. Pour the pudding over top.
Step 4
Whip the egg whites then add the sugar and vanilla and continue whipping and add the cream of tartar. Spread across the top of the pudding and cookies.
Step 5
Bake at 350 until the meringue is browned.
