Step 1
Microwave butter in mug in 10-sec. increments until melted, (20-30 sec). Crack egg into a sm. bowl, add vanilla & whisk to combine using sm. whisk or fork. Pour the egg mixture over butter whisking to combine.
Step 2
Add the sugar, cocoa powder & salt; whisk until mostly smooth (a few lumps are OK.) Scrape sides with spoon or sm. spatula. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips, if desired.
Step 3
Microwave 1-1 1/2 min., or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean. Sift a little confectionersβ sugar on top or serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
