Step 1
1) Preheat oven to 350 and thoroughly spray baking pans and line the pan with parchment paper

2) Add coffee and chocolate in a sauce pan over low heat. Stir until the chocolate is melted then remove from heat

3) In a bowl stir together flour, baking soda, and salt

4) In a seperate bowl, beat 1 cup butter and 2 cups sugar till fluffy
Step 5
5) Beat 1 egg yolk at a time (keep the whites) into the butter mixture on medium speed
Step 6
6) Beat in the melted chocolate and 1 tsp vanilla. Beat in half the flour mixture, then beat in half the buttermilk. Repeat. This whole time being on low speed.
Step 7
7) In a small bowl, beat the egg whites till stiff peaks form. Fold into batter.
Step 8
8) Bake 50-60 minutes
Step 9
9) Spread coconut goop on while cake is hot. Let cool, and top with frosting
