Instructions

Step 1
Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl, tossing to coat fruit and nuts with flour. Set aside.
Step 2
Beat butter in a large bowl at medium speed of an electric mixer until creamy; gradually add brown sugar, beating well. Add eggs; beat well.
Step 3
Combine 2 1/2 cups of flour, soda and cardamom; gradually add to creamed mixture; beating well. Stir in fruit mixture. Cover and chill.
Step 4
Divide dough into 3 portions. Spoon each portion onto wax paper, shaping into 12 inch logs. Wrap in wax paper and freeze at least 24 hours.
Step 5
Slice logs into 1/4 inch thick slices and place on lightly greased cookie sheets.
Step 6
Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes or until lightly browned. Let cool slightly on cookie sheets and remove to wire racks to cool completely.
Step 7
Makes 9 1/2 dozen
