Instructions

Step 1
Combine first 4 ingredients in a large Dutch oven. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves. Cover and cook over medium heat 3-4 minutes to wash down crystals from sides of pan. Uncover and bring to a boil. Cook to soft ball stage (240ºF) stirring constantly. Stir in pecans, butter, and vanilla. Remove from heat and continue stirring until mixture begins to thicken. Drop onto wax paper. Let stand until firm.
