How to Store Nanaimo Bars
Store the Nanaimo bars in the refrigerator for up to four days. Since they are served chilled, these bars make a great make-ahead dessert.

500 mLgraham wafer crumbs
1 cupcoconut
125mlwalnuts
chopped
½ cupbutter
⅓ cupsugar
⅓ cupcocoa
½ tspvanilla
1egg
beaten
Icing
Instructions
Base
Step 1
Mix wafer crumbs, walnuts and coconut together. Set aside.

In the top ot a double boil over hot water, place butter, sugar, cocoa, vanilla and stir mixture until butter has melted and is the consistency of custard.

Remove from heat.
Step 4
Add crumb mixture to the cocoa mixture.

(6) Blend well, pack into unbuttered 22x22cm. (9x9-inch) pan.
Icing
Step 6
Combine custard powder with milk.

(2) Add butter.

Mix in icing sugar.

Spread over base, allow to cool for 1/2 hour.
Step 10
(5) Melt chocolate with 30mL of butter and spread evenly on top
