Instructions
Step 1
Rinse blackberries and drain.
Step 2
In large bowl, combine blackberries, sugar, flour, tapioca and lemon juice. Mix well. Let sit and stir occasionally until no dry flour remains and mixture is syrupy.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Line pie pan with bottom crust.
Step 5
Brush bottom crust with egg wash.
Step 6
Pour blackberry mixture into bottom crust.
Step 7
Grate the frozen butter over the top of the blackberry mixture.
Step 8
Spread the top pie crust on a cutting board. With a pizza cutter, cut the pie crust into strips to make a lattice top. Apply top crust to pie.
Step 9
Brush top crust with egg wash.
Step 10
Sprinkle top crust with course sugar crystals.
Step 11
Bake pie at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes.
Step 12
Lower oven temperature to 375. Cover pie rim with foil or rim cover.
Step 13
Bake pie an additional 15 to 20 minutes.
Step 14
Cool completely.
Step 15
After pie is cut, store in refrigerator.
