KitKat Cake!

I was wondering what to bake until I thought of an idea, my nan loves the cakes I make and KitKat a so I thought “why not put it together” and created this.

Step 1
Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4, butter and line the base of loaf cake tin with baking parchment.

Using an electric whisk beat the butter and sugar together until pale and fluffy. Crack the eggs in one at a time and whisk well, scraping down the sides of the bowl after each addition. Add the lemon zest, vanilla, flour, milk and a pinch of salt. Whisk until just combined then divide the mixture between the two tins.

Bake in the centre of the oven for 25-30 mins until a skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean. After 10 mins remove the cakes from their tins and leave to cool completely on a wire rack.

Whilst the cake is cooling out your butter and icing sugar in a bowl and use a knife to mix

Add the milk and vanilla extract and continue mixing

Use an electric whisk to add the extra fluffiness (optional)

Once the cake has completely cooled remove it from the wire rack and onto a plate

Apply the buttercream as you wish making sure to lather the sides so the KitKat stay on

Take one of the KitKats and put it in a ziplock bag and proceed to Cush them in any way you prefer

Sprinkle the crushed kitkats onto the cake to the amount you like

Take the rest of the kitkats and began to place them all around the cake but saving one kitkat (if possible)

With the leftover KitKat break it into small chunks and place them onto the cake
