This is a basic very good recipe. You can mix it up and use any of a variety of sugars - like honey or brown sugar. You can use half white and half whole wheat flour. You can add 2 eggs if desired. canned milk, powdered milk, or buttermilk all work well. You can use butter in place of the oil as well. Just play with the recipe any way you like!

Instructions
Step 1
Combine the water, sugar and yeast in a large mixing bowl. Stir well then let rest about 5 minutes until bubbly. Stir your wet ingredients together into a bowl, then add wet and dry ingredients to your yeast mixture until all ingredients are added and it forms a ball, will be sticky. Dump out onto a lightly floured surface for kneading. Knead bread, adding in flour as needed to make a smooth, elastic dough that is no longer sticky. Knead 5-10 minutes for best results. Place dough into large lightly oiled bowl and cover. Let rest until at least double in size, 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours depending on the warmth of the room. After dough has risen, punch down. Now you can divide into 2 loaves or 24 dinner rolls. Place into greased baking dishes. Cover loosely and let rise again for about an hour. Then uncover and bake at 400 degrees F for 20-30 minutes until golden brown and loaves sound hollow when tapped. Brush tops with butter if desired.
