Cheddar Jalapeño Artisan Bread

Instructions

Step 1
In a large mixing bowl combine dry ingredients: Flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Mix ingredients together thoroughly.
Step 2
Add lukewarm water and olive oil and mix ingredients together. Dough will be lumpy and sticky, and that’s ok!
Step 3
Lightly brush top of dough with some olive oil. Cover bowel with plastic wrap and a tea towel, and set in wa place to rise until double (2-3 hours).
Step 4
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place dutch oven or cast iron pot with with lid in oven to heat.

Scrape dough out onto lightly floured work surface. Work the dough off the sides of the bowl with a spatula. Once dough is out onto work surface sprinkle lightly with flour then gently fold dough into itself about 5-6 times.
Step 6
Cut a large piece of parchment paper, large enough for the dough and to grab onto the corners. Roll dough onto the center of the parchment paper, pretty side up, then lower dough and paper into the heated pot. An option at this point would be to sprinkle the top with some coarse salt. It’s a nice touch!
Step 7
Cover pot with lid and bake for about 30 minutes. Remove lid and bake for an additional 10 minutes until top is nicely browned.
Step 8
Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
