Kirby Marshmallows
21 steps
Prep:1h 30minCook:30min
I've loved Kirby since I was a little kid and always wanted to squish him because he looks so soft. So I made marshmallows that I can squish! The ingredients are super simple, but you will need an electric mixer. These last in a sealed container for weeks and you can use this marshmallow mix to make anything you'd like~!
I’ve added some images to help explain the piping method, so I hope they help.

Instructions
Step 1
1. Soak the gelatin leaves in 100ml of cold water for 10 minutes.
Step 2
2. Sift together the powdered sugar and corn starch into the pan or dish you'll be piping on. The layer should be at least 1/2 an inch thick and flat.
Step 3
3. Use a round teaspoon to make half-sphere indents in the layer of starch mix.
Step 4
4. Add the sugar, light corn syrup, and 40ml water into a pan and heat on low until it reaches 235f-240f/112c-115c. Don't stir the mixture.
Step 5
5. While the sugar is heating, wring out the excess water from the gelatin and microwave to melt it for about 10 seconds. (Be sure to melt the gelatin only, not the water.)
Step 6
6. Add the melted gelatin into your mixing bowl until the sugar syrup is ready.
Step 7
7. Set the mixer to low and slowly pour the hot syrup into the bowl with the gelatin, being sure to not pour directly onto the whisk.
Step 8
8. Raise the mixer's speed to med-high and mix for 5-8 minutes, until the outside of the bowl feels lukewarm and the mixture is white and fluffy.
Step 9
9. Add in the salt and extract of your choice. Then mix in a couple of drops of pink food coloring.
Step 10
10. Remove about 3/4 of the mixture and place it in your piping bag.
Step 11
11. Mix in a couple of drops of red food coloring into the remaining mixture, and once it's incorporated place it in the other piping bag.
Step 12
12. Use the pink mix to fill in the indents in the starch, aiming for round, flattish, spheres.
Step 13
13. Then add 2 dots to each circle, connecting them to the center. These are the arms.
Step 14
Use the red mixture to pipe 2 dots on the opposite side, also connecting them to the center. These are the feet.
Step 15
14. Use a brush to cover the marshmallows with the starch mixture thoroughly.
Step 16
15. Remove the marshmallows, flip them over, and place them on a plate or board to decorate. Dust off excess powder.
Step 17
16. If using chocolate, melt it and add to a piping bag with a sharp tip. (You can also use icing if you prefer, and you'll want to dye it black.)
Step 18
17. Use the chocolate to make the faces on the smooth side of the marshmallows. (Be creative and make any face you'd like!)
Step 19
18. Mix together a drop of pink food coloring with a little water and powdered sugar to make a mix for the blush and decorate the cheeks.
Step 20
19. Allow everything to set for about 10 minutes.
Step 21
20. Enjoy plain or in a hot beverage~!
