Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Step 2
2. Mix filling and frosting according to recipes above.
Step 3
3. Use a rolling pin or the pie filling jar to roll out two sheets of thawed frozen puff pastry dough (or pie dough, crescent roll dough) into roughly 10×13” rectangles.
Step 4
4. Gently lay the sheets on top of each other and trim off edges so each rectangle matches, then cut into 8 rectangles. Peel apart layers and set the (8) “top” pieces aside.
Step 5
5. Add 2 tablespoons of pie filling into the center of each rectangle.
Step 6
6. Beat egg in a small bowl and brush egg wash on the edges of each rectangle.
Step 7
7. Place the remaining (8) rectangles on top of the filled rectangles and use your fingers to seal the edges, followed by crimping the edges with a fork.
Step 8
8. Brush the tops with egg wash, sprinkle on granulated sugar (for extra shine!), then use a fork or wooden skewer to poke holes on top (this will allow the steam to vent).
Step 9
9. Bake at 400°F for 18-20 minutes or until pastries are lightly golden brown. Baking time will vary based on brand of puff pastry you use, so watch it closely!
Step 10
10. Allow to cool before adding glaze and/or sprinkles.
