Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 200°C. Place alternate layers of potato and onion slices in a 1 litre ovenproof dish, seasoning well and sprinkling, with garlic between layers. Mix cream and white onion soup together, then pour over potatoes to almost reach the top layer.
Step 2
Place dish on a baking sheet, cover with foil and pierce a few holes. Bake for 45 minutes before removing foil, sprinkling over the cheese and cooking for a further 15-20 minutes. Leave to stand for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with chives and serve.
