Ingredients
8 servings
For the Dough
3 call purpose flour
4 tspbaking powder
1 tspbaking soda
1 tspsalt
1 stickbutter
Β½ cchives
1 ccheddar cheese
1 cbuttermilk
For the Egg Wash
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 450Β°F.
Step 2
Chop 1 stick of butter into small cubes and return to the fridge (or freezer) to chill. The butter needs to be cold when added to the dry ingredients.
Step 3
Combine the dry ingredients. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to a bowl and whisk all that together.
Step 4
Add the cold butter cubes to the dry ingredients and crumble them into the dry ingredients with your hands. You could also use a dough blender, but Brandon's method is quick and easy -- Just make sure the butter doesn't melt!
Step 5
Add the cheese and chives and give all that a good mix; again, you can just use your hands!
Step 6
Add the cold buttermilk and bring mixture together with your hands. Form dough into a rectangle and roll to about an inch thin. Use a knife to score where the biscuits will be and cut through. Place on a baking sheet and chill in the fridge at least 30 minutes.
Step 7
Whisk egg yolks and heavy cream and brush the tops of the biscuits. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 450Β°F. Serve with butter and honey!
