Instructions
Step 1
Pre-heat oven to 160° (fan forced). Grease a 20cm (base measurement) round cake tin and line the base and sides with baking paper.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine butter, sugar and vanilla and beat on a high speed using an electric mixer or food processor until light and fluffy. Gradually pour in continuing to beat after each addition.
Step 3
Finally gently fold in flour, milk and baking powder until well combined.
Step 4
Pour mixture into prepared cake tin and smooth the surface with the back of a spoon. Bake for 45 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean
Step 5
Allow cake to stand in the tin for 5 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
