Step 1
Add milk and cream to pot, bring yo low boil. Add sugar and dissolve. Add cornstarch, let cook one minute and add beaten eggs. Cook for 10 minutes or until thick and creamy. Take off heat and add butter and vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell. Make meringue by beating egg whites with pinch of cream of tartar and 1/4 cup sugar. Spread on pie and add coconut to top. Bake 15 to 20 minutes until peaks of meringue and coconut are lightly browned.
