Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 375F.

In a bowl, add the eggs, vanilla, maple syrup and butter. Whisk or use an electric mixer.
Step 3
Add in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt. Whisk or use an electric mixer. Only add the milk if the batter is too tough.
Step 4
Add the chopped almonds and mix.
Step 5
Line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper and pour the batter into it.
Step 6
Bake it for 30 minutes at 375F.
Step 7
Once baked, remove the cake from the dish and place on a cutting board.
Step 8
Trim the edges off and then cut it into strips.
Step 9
Line a baking sheet with the same parchment paper used for the cake and place each strip (interior layer facing up).
Step 10
Bake for 10 minutes at 350F. Remove, flip, and bake it on its other side for another 10 minutes.
