1 cupsugar

1 cupall purpose flour

1 teaspoonbaking powder

¼ teaspoonsalt

½ cupmilk
scalded

1 tablespoonbutter
softened

1 teaspoonvanilla extract

Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°.

Step 2
Beat eggs; gradually add sugar, beating well.
Step 3
Combine dry ingredients. Add to sugar mixture, beating well.
Step 4
Combine milk and butter; stirring to melt butter, add to flour mixture, beating well. Stir in vanilla.
Step 5
Pour into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Step 6
Immediately pour topping over cake in pan; broil 1-2 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut into squares to serve.

Combine all ingredients, stirring well.
