Recipes celebrating Malawi for the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 #CooktheCommonwealth. The cuisine of Malawi remains very traditional as it has not been influenced by many other cultures. It is known for its ‘tuck shops’, which are small shops located in rural areas selling snack foods such as meat pies, sausage rolls and bunny chow (rolls that are deep fried and stuffed with a mix of curry meat and potato). Fish is also a speciality, with Lake Malawi providing chambo (a tilapia fish) - it is served using a gravy made from a special curry powder and fruit chutney!
