A traditional Malawian Doughnut that is perfect with a cup of tea or coffee. For an extra touch of sweetness, dust some icing sugar over and serve warm or cold.

Instructions
Step 1
Place flour, sugar, yeast and salt into a mixing bowl

Mix together
Step 3
Create a well in the center and add the water or milk
Step 4
Mix ingredients together with your hands or a mixer to create a smooth, well mixed batter

Let the batter rest for 30-40 minutes until it rises
Step 6
Mold the dough into even shaped, small sized balls and leave to rest and rise for another 15 minutes
Step 7
Pour cooking oil into a pan and bring to heat
Step 8
Place balls in the oil and cook until golden brown, turning occasionally
Step 9
Pat oil off with kitchen paper and leave the mandasi to cool on a baking rack.
