I first tasted Tan Square while living in Alfredton. I think it ws Sue Dingle that made it and gave me the recipe. Its simple to make and you can use the base for other slices too.

Instructions

Step 1
Cream butter and Sugar
Step 2
Add vanilla and flour
Step 3
Mix well as it can be quite dry. Reseve a small amount for topping but press the rest into a slice tin
Step 4
In a saucepan put the topping ingredients.
Step 5
HEat and stir until blended.
Step 6
Pour over the base
Step 7
Take the remaining base and make into crumbs to sprinkle over the topping.
Step 8
Bake at 189C for 30 mins. Check after 25 mins. Should be golden and tan coloured.
