Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F
Step 2
Cook the elbow macaroni in salted water until al dente- according to the package directions. When finished cooking, drain and set aside.
Step 3
Meanwhile in a large skillet melt the butter over medium to medium high heat.
Step 4
Sprinkle in the flour and whisk until brown. Slowly pour in the milk, whisking constantly. Add the spices.
Step 5
Keep cooking over medium high heat 3-4 minutes until it’s thickened. Add 4 cups of the cheddar cheese and stir until melted and creamy. Mix in the macaroni.
Step 6
Spray a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick spray. Pour in half of the macaroni and cheese. Top with 1 cup of cheese. Pour the rest of the macaroni and cheese and top with the remaining 1 cup of cheese.
Step 7
Bake for 20 minutes.
