Instructions

Step 1
With the lid off, press SAUTE and START, and then wait until display says HOT (about 3 minutes) Joan: Book says if you don't wait for HOT, it will never come.).

Add oil.
Step 3
Add onion (1) and cook until soft, 5 minutes.
Step 4
Stir in garlic (3 cl) and cook until fragrant, 1 minute, then add tomato paste (2T), stirring to combine.
Step 5
Add ground beef (1.5lbs) and cook, breaking meat up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, 7 minutes.
Step 6
When sauteing is done, press CANCEL to end SAUTE function.
Step 7
Drain fat, if necessary, then return insert to Instant Pot.
Step 8
Add broth (2c), beans, tomatoes, chili powder (1.5T), cumin (1t), oregano (1t) and cayenne (0.5t). Season with salt and pepper.
Step 9
Lock lid. Press COOK on High for 14 minutes. Display will show ON until the pit is up to temp (about 15 min) and will then change to COOK for 14 min = total 29 min till done.
Step 10
Follow manufacturer’s instructions to quick release, then remove lid. Serve with sour cream, cheddar cheese and Fritos.
