Step 1
Mix Yeast Prep and let sit for about 10-15 minutes until frothy. (Grandma notes: until the mixture rises up over the bowl/measuring cup.)
Step 2
Mix yeast prep with other ingredients. Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead. Cover. Let rise until double.
Step 3
Cut into 24 pieces, shape into rolls. Cut and put butter in fold. Place on large greased cookie sheet. Let rise until double. About 1 hour.
Step 4
Can brush with egg right before they go in the oven. Bake at 400°F for about 15 minutes.
Step 5
Note: modern milk doesn't require scalding.
