This is the recipe for Russian tea cookies that I got from a holiday cookie baking class I took with my niece.

Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Step 2
1. In a mixing bowl, beat together the butter, sugar and salt until soft and fairly light, about 3 minutes. Beat in the vanilla and water and continue beating until smooth.

2. Stir in the flour and pecans with a spoon or rubber spatula.
Step 4
3. Use a small ice cream scoop or melon ball scoop to separate pieces of dough. Roll the dough between the palms of your hands to form a ball and place on a cookie sheet. Continue with the remaining dough, leaving an inch between each ball.

4. Bake the cookies for about 15 to 20 minutes, until cookies are firm and golden. Slide onto metal racks. While still slightly warm, roll cookies in confectioners' sugar until completely coated.
Step 6
5. Place in container and sift more confectioners' sugar over cookies after they have cooled.
Step 7
Store between sheets of waxed paper in a container with a tight-fitting lid.
Step 8
Yield: about 100 cookies, teach person gets about 6 cookies
