Instructions

Step 1
Heat oven to 475 degree.
Step 2
Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl. Measure oil, then milk into one measuring cup (don't stir together). Pour, all at once, over flour mixture. With fork, mix to make soft dough that rounds into a ball.

Step 3
Turn dough onto floured surface, knead about 10 times. Roll out a rectangle 1/4 inch thick. Fold in half, roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Repeat 2 more times.
Step 4
Cut out with a floured 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place in a cast iron skillet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or untill golden brown.

Buttermilk Biscuits

Step 5
Make as above, reducing baking powder to 2 teaspoons, adding 1/4 baking soda, and substituting buttermilk for sweet milk.
