Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch cake pans.
Step 2
Finely grind pistachios in a food processor.
Step 3
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.

Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Fold in ground pistachios.
Step 6
Divide batter between prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Once cakes are cool, frost with cream cheese buttercream.

Beat together butter and cream cheese. Gradually add powdered sugar, then mix in vanilla extract and milk until smooth.
