Instructions

Step 1
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt unsalted butter. Once the butter starts to foam, add milk powder, stirring continuously until the mixture turns a rich golden brown. Remove from heat and add 1 ice-cube or 1 TBSP of water and let cool for 5-10 minutes. (The ice-cube add back any liquid that was lost during the browning process)
Step 2
In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Step 3
In a large mixing bowl, combine the browned butter with packed brown sugar and granulated sugar. Beat until well combined.
Step 4
Add vanilla extract, apple cider vinegar, and a large egg to the butter and sugar mixture. Mix until smooth.
Step 5
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until incorporated. Avoid overmixing.
Step 6
Fold in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Step 7
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 8
Scoop the dough into balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Step 9
Bake for 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are still soft.
Step 10
Cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
