Instructions

Step 1
1. Spray and line an 8" round pan. Preheat oven to 350 F.

2. Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together.

To the bowl, add the egg, yolk, sour cream, vanilla extract, oil, and melted butter. Whisk until batter forms.

4. Add the milk and whisk until combined.

Dissolve 1-2 tsp instant coffee in 20 ml hot water. remove 1/3 of the batter and flavour with coffee , add the coffee batter to the normal batter while in the baking pan to create a marble cake look (optional)

5. Pour into prepped pan and bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

6. Cool cake entirely before decorating.

Combine and use to soak cake by piercing holes with a toothpick to make the cake absorb the syrup better

1. Chill mixer bowl and whisk attachment in the freezer for 20 minutes.

2. In the chilled bowl, combine mascarpone, icing sugar, vanilla, salt, and heavy cream.

4. Use right away. Makes enough to serve with extra cream on the side - I recommend this!
