Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the Oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
Step 2
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
Step 3
In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Step 4
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, fully incorporating each egg before adding the next. Add in the vanilla extract
Step 5
Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir just until combined. Fold in the hot fudge sauce gently, ensuring not to overmix.
Step 6
If using, fold in chocolate chips or nuts at this stage.
Step 7
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top with a spatula.
Step 8
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 9
Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely. Drizzle with additional hot fudge sauce before serving, if desired.
