Instructions
Step 1
Make the Meatballs:
Step 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork (if using), breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, chopped onion, minced garlic, beaten egg, parsley, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated, being careful not to overmix.
Step 3
Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
Step 4
Cook the Meatballs:
Step 5
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Brown the meatballs on all sides, about 5-7 minutes, until they are cooked through. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set them aside.
Step 6
Make the Gravy:
Step 7
In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for about 2 minutes to create a roux. Gradually whisk in the beef broth, making sure to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
Step 8
Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the gravy thickens. Stir in the milk or cream and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 9
Combine and Serve:
Step 10
Return the meatballs to the skillet, gently tossing them in the gravy until they are fully coated and warmed through. Let them simmer in the gravy for a few minutes to absorb the flavors.
Step 11
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve the Meatballs and Gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
Step 12
Meatballs and Gravy is a comforting dish that’s rich in flavor and easy to prepare. With its tender meatballs and creamy, savory gravy, it’s a meal that brings warmth and satisfaction to the table, making it a go-to recipe for any occasion.
