Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
Step 2
In a large bowl, whisk together oil and sugar until well combined.
Step 3
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder.
Step 5
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet, alternating with milk. Stir in the vanilla.
Step 6
Divide batter in half. Stir the cocoa powder into one half until smooth.
Step 7
Layer or swirl both batters into the prepared pan for a marbled look.
Step 8
Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Step 9
Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
