If you have ever tried to make kale chips in the oven, you will know the struggle. One minute they are soft, the next they are burnt and bitter! That’s where the air fryer completely transforms things. With its even heat and quick cooking, you can turn simple kale leaves into light, crunchy chips in under 10 minutes.

Step 1
Remove any tough stems and tear the leaves into large bite-sized pieces. Make sure the kale is completely dry — moisture stops it from crisping properly.
Step 2
Place the kale in a large bowl. Drizzle over the olive oil (or spray lightly) and toss well to coat. Sprinkle with salt and any seasonings you like.
Step 3
Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (350°F).
Step 4
Add the kale in a single layer — you may need to cook in batches to avoid overcrowding.
Step 5
Air fry for 4–6 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through. Keep a close eye on it towards the end; kale can crisp up fast!
Step 6
Transfer to a bowl or tray and let it cool for a few minutes — it gets even crispier as it cools. Serve straight away or store once cooled.
