Instructions

Step 1
Flour your work surface and unwrap your dough. Roll the dough out to a large rectangle about 1–2cm thick.
Step 2
In a blender or a bowl, combine the butter, cinnamon and 3 tablespoons of sugar to form a soft, spreadable paste.
Step 3
Preheat your air fryer to 200°C for 4 minutes while you assemble the buns.
Step 4
Leaving an inch at the bottom and the top, evenly spread the butter mixture all over the dough. Fold over the bottom inch, then slowly and tightly roll up the dough into a sausage.
Step 5
You may want to flour your hands, as the next step gets a bit messy.
Step 6
Slice the dough sausage in half lengthways and then in half again, so you end up with four quarters (they will start to open up and look a bit messy, but don’t worry). Twist each one into a knot and tuck the ends underneath.
Step 7
Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle over the remaining sugar.
Step 8
Spray the air fryer with oil, then place the buns directly on the crisper plate, evenly spaced. Cook at 180°C for 10–12 minutes until golden.
Step 9
Leave to cool slightly before serving.
