Instructions
Step 1
Heat oven to 170 C (160 C fan).
Step 2
Line a 2 lb loaf tin.
Step 3
Beat butter and sugar until very pale and fluffy.
Step 4
Beat in eggs one at a time, adding a spoonful of flour with each.
Step 5
Stir in orange zest and 75 ml orange juice.
Step 6
Fold in remaining flour gently.
Step 7
Add milk only if mixture is very thick.
Step 8
Spoon into tin, level top.
Step 9
Bake for 55โ65 minutes.
Step 10
Do not open the oven for the first 40 minutes.
Step 11
If browning too fast, loosely cover with foil.

Skewer in the centre should come out clean.

1. Mix 40 ml orange juice with 100 g icing sugar until smooth and pourable.

2. Prick the hot cake and drizzle glaze slowly over the top.

3. Leave in tin 15 minutes, then cool fully.
