Instructions
Step 1
Peel, core and chopped apples
Step 2
Combine apples in a heavy-bottomed pot with the water, lemon juice and cinnamon.
Step 3
Cover and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft and falling apart, 20 to 30 minutes.
Step 4
Stir in ¼ to ½ cup brown sugar to taste.
Step 5
Increase heat to medium and cook uncovered, stirring frequently, until the applesauce thickens.
Step 6
Add 2 Tablespoons softened butter, 1 tsp vanilla.
