Instructions

Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 160°C fan (170°C conventional).

2. Melt the butter in the microwave and let it cool for 2–3 minutes (warm, not hot).

3. Stir in both sugars until combined.

4. Add egg and vanilla — mix with a spoon.
Step 5
5. Stir in flour, bicarbonate of soda, and salt until just combined.
Step 6
6. Fold in chocolate chips.
Step 7
7. Scoop onto a lined tray (they’ll spread, so leave space).
Step 8
8. Bake 12–14 minutes until golden at the edges.
Step 9
Leave on the tray 5 minutes before moving — they firm up as they cool.
