Step 1
1. Par-cook the carrots. Place the prepared carrots in a large saucepan and add enough water to cover them by about 1 inch. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the carrots are tender. Drain the carrots and set them aside.

2. Make the glaze. Return the saucepan to the stove over low heat. Add the butter and melt it completely. Stir in the brown sugar, salt, and white pepper until they dissolve into the butter.

3. Glaze the carrots. Add the drained carrots to the glaze mixture. Toss them gently to ensure each piece is coated evenly.

4. Finish cooking. Continue to cook and stir the carrots for 1 to 3 more minutes, until they are heated through and the glaze has thickened and fully coated them.

5. Serve. Transfer the glazed carrots to a serving dish and serve warm.
