this shredded cabbage salad can beat any or slightly sweet. it is usually smothered and mayonnaise, but it is most pleasing simply dressed with oil and vinegar.

Instructions
Step 1
Cut the cabbage into quarters, remove the hardcores, and shred. Coarsely great the carrot, and the onion.
Step 2
Mix the vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper and stir into the shredded vegetables. Mix thoroughly and leave in a cool place for at least 1 hour before serving.
Step 3
Add the mayonnaise just before serving.
