1 lbbeef sirloin
or ribeye, thinly sliced this can be done at the butcher shop, if not please place beef in the freezer 2 hours before class so slicing is easier
3scallions
cut into 1.5" batons
1onion
thinly sliced
6 tsoy sauce
3 twater
3 tbrown sugar
3 tasian pear
grated, apple works
3 clovesgarlic
minced
1 tsesame oil
½ tground black pepper
1 tmirin
or rice wine, optional
3dried shiitake mushrooms
soaked in warm water 30 mins before class, optional
Instructions
Step 1
1. Slice meat thinly
Step 2
2. combine marinade ingredients in large bowl and mix well
Step 3
3. Add sliced onions and scallions (mushrooms sliced thinly if using)
Step 4
4. Mix well and let sit for about 30 mins - 1 hour
Step 5
5. In a large pan over high heat, add 1T of neutral oil and cook meat without overcrowding the pan (cook in batches if necessary)
Step 6
6. Optional: garnish meat with some sesame seeds and sliced scallions
Step 7
Dipping sauce: 2T ssamjang (or 1T doenjang+1 Tgochugang+1t honey+1t sesame oil+1t minced garlic)
