½ cupsalted butter
softened
1 pkgcream cheese
softened
1 tspfresh orange zest
1 ½ cupssugar
1egg
lg, room temp
1 tspvanilla
1 tsporange extract
you can start with 1/2 tsp and taste test the dough
1 dropred food coloring

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F
Step 1
Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 2
In lg. bowl, beat butter, cream cheese, orange zest, & sugar until blended.
Step 3
Add in egg, vanilla, orange extract, & food coloring (red and yellow).
Step 4
Add flour, baking powder, & ½C powdered sugar. With mixer on low, gradually beat into creamed mixture.
Step 5
Using a 2T-size cookie scoop, create balls; roll them in remaining powdered sugar.
Step 6
Place approximately 6 dough balls on each baking sheet. Using your hands (or bottom of glass) flatten balls into rounds.
Step 7
Bake (8-11 min.) until they no longer appear wet on top. Cool (5 min.) on the pan (they will be soft); place on cooling racks to cool completely.
